SINOPEC 1.7 Million Ton / Year, Methanol and Olefin Conversion Project

Sinopec 1.7 Million Ton/year, Methanol and Olefin Conversion Project

In January 2009, the Anhui Provincial Government and Sinopec Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to determine the construction of a large-scale coal-chemical integration project in the Huainan Modern Coal Chemical Industrial Park in Anhui. In March 2014, another round of strategic cooperation agreements was signed to include the Huainan coal chemical industry base in the Sinopec industrial layout plan, and the overall construction scale of one million tons of coal-to-olefins in Huainan was formed. The first phase of the project is to build a 1.7 million tons/year coal conversion 700,000 tons/year olefin device through methanol, supporting the 4 million tons/year Zhujixi Coal Mine, with a total investment of about 26.7 billion yuan.

The 1.7 million tons/year coal-to-methanol and conversion olefin project of Zhong'an United Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. is a key construction project of Sinopec and Anhui Province. The core process of the project adopts the S-MTO patented technology of Sinopec's independent intellectual property rights, and the gasification device adopts the SE-Dongfang furnace technology of Sinopec's independent intellectual property rights. The coal from Zhujixi Mine is used as raw material to produce methanol, converted olefin (LDPE/PP), ethylene glycol (MEG) and other products.
